| Promoting respect, self-confidence, & accountability. |
"QUEST" will promote healing and restorative outcomes. Working with horses meets many critical needs in the lives of boys and girls at Christian Haven |
PHYSICAL: Riding can stimulate general good health in children who have never excelled in sports. It promotes motor coordination and students learn to isolate and use individual muscles at will. Riding a horse at a walk stimulates all the body's muscle groups in the same manner as walking. |
MENTAL: History, science and math will be taught in classes on breed development, nutrition, health and diseases, and management. Reading skills will be encouraged by the creation of an equine library and horse magazines. A wide range of skills will be taught through participating in a variety of games and exercises. |
EMOTIONAL AND SOCIAL: Research has shown positive outcomes in a child being drawn out of social isolation by developing a relationship with an animal - in this case - a horse. This positive interaction with horses can later be applied to human relationships. |
